CONTEXT
During a one-month internship at CIL4Sys Engineering, I redesigned the Virtual Bench interface with a classmate.
Virtual Bench is simulation and testing software that allows engineers to configure, visualize, and validate complex systems.
Initially intended for internal use only and accumulating features, it was very difficult to learn and impossible to market.
My role was to make it intuitive, despite its great complexity.

UX ANALYSYS
For Virtual Bench’s comprehensive UX analysis, I combined in-depth usability testing with two novice users and targeted surveys of regular users and customers.
This study revealed several critical issues:
Ambiguous icons and terminology
Element placement that conflicted with user expectations
Feature overload, requiring too many clicks to complete tasks
A confusing information architecture and hierarchy

ENGINEER
& DESIGNER
UX decisions had so far been constrained by technical limitations related to database management.
I designed a coherent mockup while respecting these constraints.
This experience confirmed the importance of combining engineering and design skills to create solutions that are both user-centered and technically feasible.

IMPACT
Intuitive and easy to use : it retains its functional complexity while shedding its usage complexity.
Aligned with technical requirements : the code structure and database comply with developer standards.
Market-ready : the software, previously used internally only, can now be commercialized.
→ UX design enabled CIL4Sys to reinvent its business model.

WEBSITE
I then redesigned CIL4Sys’s website.
I created a structured interface, organized into key chapters, highlighting CIL4Sys’s strengths and making complex topics easier to understand.
